Depends if you need the four seats.
I don't know why everybody is saying rotory isn't reliable when we don't know if the new generation has failed.
And if you like more gadgets probably RX-8 would be a better car.
Top down and driving excitement would probably goto S2k.
And if you get a lot of snowy weather probably go with RX-8 since s2k does not have any traction control and you would have to swap out tires.

THe Rx-8 isn't bad but its like trying to be a sports car while still being a 4 seater or something like that. So its a compromise. All out fun is def s2k. Speedwise pre my 04 and my 04 isnt to noticable at all. They all have the same times 1/4 0-60 you just get more power at the lower RPMs. But then with the new 04s you don't get the 9k redline. Basically the 00-01 is the most rawest while the 04 is more refined etc. This does spark a big debate though so use search if you want to read but in the end its not a big deal.

both cars will provide plenty of fun for sprinted driving
BUT!!! as a weekend drive car, the s2k is 10x better than the mazda
if you are going to use the car nearly everyday, then i would suggest the mazda
i sometimes drive my car everyday, but to tell you the truth its just not the same without a beater
so if driving fun is the what you want.............> s2000
if you what a car that balances out driving and daily commute...........>RX8
good luck
BTW...id get that s2k!

You have to decide whether you want a sports car or not. Sports cars have two seats, not four.

Hahaha! Yes, I disagree with the 2-seat argument too.

I think the RX8 has a pretty high "cool" factor with that neat rotary under there. I love the tech.

And, frankly, tech is one of the reasons I bought my S2000 in the first place two years ago! The S2000 is still pretty great with the electric power steering, slick 6-spd, VTEC, Torsen rear diff, fastest convt. top on the planet, etc...

Oh hell, get the S2000!

I love this car more than the day I bought it. It's truly addictive. It tames every windy road and makes you want to drive 100 miles to get milk.

Even the Integra type-r is faster than the RX8, but there's a special edition in Japan which is as fast as the S2k!

I think both cars are very beautyful and fun to drive.

But for me, the S2k is 1st choice.

Good Luck
