On the way home last night with my wife at the controls, we had a dear jump in front of us.

She was able to slow down but bent the right front headlight in and damaged the bumper.

For all of you animal lovers, the dear is ok. . Must have been a glancing blow because the dear flew over the hood and drivers windshield and damage was minimal; the dear got up and run off without a limp.

It is a spa yellow with front factory spoiler and Ricks badges. Should I just have it repaired as it was, or should I fit a new bumper?

I am planning on getting rid of the car in about a year so would it be better to sell with stock bumper, or with after-market?

The insurance will pay for stock front bumper and spoiler replacement, so my guess is that this will be close to most other products in price?

If I do go with after-market, which one will give me the best performance besides Mugen; I just don't think I want that look?

if your going through insurance... i would just replace it with OEM parts... especially if your planning to sell... you never know if the next person wants the aftermarket bumper you picked out..

Sounds like that was dear deer! Minor damage but I know it's tough, as I hit one with my MG a couple year's ago. Top down and he almost landed in the front seat.

 

You know it's funny. That's the exact same deer encounter I had on the way to a S2000 event in Greencastle PA. Passenger side headlight then into the windsheild which held up fine. Finally up over the roof and it walked away.

 

I agree with beanolo.. defintlly go with OEM parts... if ever you plan to sell the car, always have OEM parts that are already painted and ready to be put on... cause alot of times buyers dont want a kit on their car.

 

It seems that the S2000 was designed with Deer Safety in mind - Honda engineers are very cool people! I don't know of one Deer Fatality with an S2000.

OEM all the way if you are trading or selling, dealerships don't like aftermarket stuff in my experience!

Those are the most stupid suicidal kamikaze animals I've ever seen.

 

It all depends on how your insurance works. Sometimes they will pay you for the repairs and you pay the shop...other times they will pay them direct. If they pay you, then you can get a nice aftermarket bumper for about the same price (the J's Urethane from 4IG is nice) and have a nice mild custom look. Otherwise, go with OEM from Hardtopguy
