This guy had a modded car and even does a LOT of auto-x. In the end it cost him $200 for his half of the arbitration, and he got $1900 worth of repairs done to replace his tranny.
from him:
"Bought the car new and purchaced the 10 Year 100,000 mile service contract from Honda Care... the transmission broke at 86,000 miles. After denying coverage due to mods, I sent a letter regarding the Magnusson Moss warranty act.
They just sent a letter back saying that that act only applies to Warrentys, where as this is an extended service contract.
They arnt going to back down over this, and your going to have to go through Arbitration..
I called them up and talked to them one last time, when they said they wont cover it, say that you want to take it to arbitration. then contact http://www.adr.org/ and fill out the forms. It will cost you a little $$$ to file but Honda will have to cover half of the arbitration costs. in the end it cost me $200 in arbitration for honda to pay me $1900+ for the cost of repairs + car rental. Worth it? I thought so."
You can ask for arbitration per the contract you sign when they deny warranty coverage for your hondacare extended warranty. It's worth a shot.
