Depreciate?
Recently my gf backed up into my driver side door
and I held in the agitation and swallowed my pride before I grabbed my ugly stick...LOL! Anyways, I got the skin replaced and painted like new (Thanks Kens Paint and Body Shop) and my question is...does that depreciate my car since it was a new skin. That was the only thing affected on my ride.

I did not report it to the insurance. Car looks good as new now. As for cutting it off, there is some kind of adhesive that keeps them together. I dont know if there is any welding involved but i could be wrong. If you open your door, you will see some adhesive keeping it together. The place actually put it on with their bare hands...looked a little sloppy but I went to other body shops and they said it will look the same everywhere. I guess Honda has some kind of special tool they use to put the adhesive on. Thats just a guess Honda does that but not too sure if they have that equipment to do that. Its a machine they use...thats why it looks so perfect.

If you go to a commercial body shop, they will charge you over a grand. I went to a local body shop here in texas and they did a great job for about $750. Its really not the place, its the person who paints. I know people who go to commercial body shops (Kellog Honda, GMC, Boggus Ford) and they complain that they had a horrible paint job. So its really the person who does it.
I looked up the place and I saw great reviews!

hmm...hopefully here is no welding, i need some new skins! how much did you pay for the skins?
1. Wire wheel off all of the seam sealer at the gap where the skin connects to the door
2. Drill out any spot welds
3. Grind off the seam on the edge of the door to split the layers of the door
4. Knock the skin off with a hammer and chisel
5. Place the new skin in place
6. Use a door tool or hammer/dolly and fold the skin seam over the shell
7. Spot weld with a resistance welder if needed
8. Seam seal the area where the shell meets the skin
9. Paint.
Don't try it unless you've got someone who has done it before with you.
IIRC skins go from 200 something and up. Call Honda, they sell them. There is no VIN tag on the skin, just the shell so no one will know unless you tell them or they know what to look for.
