I am curious if anyone in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex is still interested in any S2000 group or events. I saw some postings that were months old but it appears that nothing has been organized.
When I go out to the speedway I see groups of Porsche, BMW, Audi, Miata, Corvette, Viper, and Prowler owners but the only S2Ks to be found are parked inside by the paddocks. The others are out on the track enjoying parade laps or planning to schedule the road course. In the presence of some awesome machines the S2000 was turning heads at the Laps for Charity event but we were alone amidst Ferraris and Corvettes.
I drive my car and fly aircraft for fun. I also race multi-hull sailboats in a national organization. I would be happy to lend any support in a local group. Our local sailing club frequently has a Cajun boil or restaurant meeting just to enjoy the company of people with similar interests. I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to find a few folks in the area who would like to get together occasionally with their favorite cars.
In my seven years of Miata ownership hardly a day passed without another owner passing with a friendly wave or flip of the headlamps. This Sunday a silver / red S2K pulled alongside at the bank teller without so much as a glance. Is this such an unfriendly group? I don't think so. If anyone feels like I do please feel free to contact me.

I am very interested. By the way, who is in charge of the S2000 club in this area? I sent my money in months ago to join and have never received anything from them. I can't find the origional papers that I joined with.

i am also from Dallas, and in the process of looking for an S2000 to buy. i'm not yet committed to purchase, but after renting one last month i think its probably more or less inevitable.

does anyone have any success stories for buying S2000's from Dallas dealerships? by success, i of course me negotiating an MSRP sale price. there are several metroplex Honda dealers, but i don't have much personal experience with any of them other than the McKinney one, which has been no better than adequate with me.

or, is anyone looking to sell a Silver/Black S2K with reasonable miles. if you are, look me up.

thanks,

Fotch,

All I can say is don't go to David McDavid. Their service is terrible. You have to fight for everything.

Fotch,

Stay very far away from Honda of McKinney. I told them no way was I paying over MSRP over the phone. They said, "OK, come on up and lets make a deal." After driving 30 minutes out of my way they told me there was a "10K market adjustment." duh.

i would gladly drive/fly out a little ways if there was a consistently good dealership to go to, but all over i'm hearing what you're saying: demand will cause dealers to go all over the place with respect to price on this car. maybe i'll be able to negotiate a good rate locally. or maybe something used will come up.

thanks for the info, all.

fotch, if you are in the metroplex area and don't mind an 8 hour drive then I have the dealer for you. Call Larry Roubison of Bender Honda. They are in Clovis, NM, note my User Name. I purchased my White/Red back in August for 32 flat. They waived, or basically deducted destination fees. last I spoke to him, he had a red coming end of October for MSRP. told him I would let people know since he helped me out. i was absolutley disgusted with the local DFW greed. his number is (505) 762-3701. hope this helps you out.
