Default Did a glass window top conversion...

No pics as of yet. Will do first thing when I wake up. But the problem is pretty straight-forward.

I have a MY01, and I did a glass window top conversion on it. After the self-install, I would try to put the top all the way down, and it would just sit 5" higher then where it should normally be. It sits so high up, It covers half of my windscreen if I tried to see it from the back.

Anything I did wrong in the conversion? Or is it supposed to sit that high up?
I used the DIY threads on s2ki, and followed every instruction verbatim.

Any info is helpful, thanks.

Did you replace the whole top or just the window?

If you replaced the whole top, it might just take time for your stiff top to stretch / break in. Some people have the same problems when their cars come direct from the manufacturer.

after installing, you should wait maybe a week or two for it to stretch or 'break-in' as Ckit said. or you could let it sit out in the sunlight for a couple hours to let it heat up a little then try putting it down. on one of the DIY's, says you could turn the heat on and let it warm up that way..hope you get the point

Iono if this helps, but doesn't modifry sell straps for when the top does not go down all way? Maybe something you might want to look into if all else fails. I would probably try everyone's ideas before doing this though. Anyways, good luck on getting that fixed.

Make sure it's folding correctly. As you lower the top, pinch together the 2 bars towards the rear. IME, that's typically where binding/bunching keeps the top from going down all the way. If that's not the issue, then it's probably the fabric that needs to stretch.

I cannot emphasize enough the value of the advice the OP has just been given.

i've heard the frame needs to get pushed back since the new and old frames are different.
