Default Did my first heel/toe downshift!

Managed to do several heel/toe downshifts today, pretty smoothly.

I'm sure it's all very blase for the Sennas in here, but I've only been driving a stick for 3 weeks now, so forgive me.

Also it was more of a foot roll than a heel/toe -- the gas pedal doesn't seem to be in the right place for me to manage a true heel/toe without stabbing the brakes.

What a cool feeling when it goes smoothly.

Do people here ever use this technique in everyday driving?

I haven't practiced it much, but I really want to learn.

I still can't figure out where I can use the heel-toe shift in day-to-day situations... (Hills...?)

Everyday here as well. Its harder heel and toeing though in regular traffic when your RPMS arent really high. Still, its fun to do!

In day-to-day situations, you'd use it when youre braking and the gear your in becomes too high for the (low) speed youre at. Its always nice being in the right gear.

Double-clutch + 2 blips or just one clutch and blip? I've read a couple of articles and saw one that was trying to explain why you would clutch, shift in to neutral, blip, engage, clutch, downshift, blip, engage. Apparently this was really the right way, but with the current syncros you could get away with just the single. anyone have any better thoughts on what is the proper technique?

It's an awkward movement. I think I only got it once while trying. I wish the gas pedal was wider or something.

I don't know how others do it, or if this is the 'proper' method, but the way I do it:

brake with the left edge of my right foot
clutch in and gear change
blip gas with the right edge of my right foot
release clutch

seems to work pretty good so far, but I have wide feet, LOL....

The gas pedal doesn't seem to extend far down enough to blip it and modulate the brake with the ball of my foot effectively. At least for my feet.
