i would've thought the dealership just endorsed an aftermarket part a little like toyota with trd, the only catch was you had to purchase and install through them...

Hmm never heard of this before. So why can't we still get them if they use to endorse it??

This was done by dealerships. It was a dealer add-on. This option was not waranteed by AHM, but by the selling dealer. I remember Acura/Honda of Escondido (spelling?) was one of these dealers.

This is similar to the 1-2 dealers selling Spoon outfitted cars with Warranties when Opak racing decided they'd sell spoon parts and service in dealership showrooms.

There was a local dealer here putting AEM intakes on S2000's and raping consumers at $1995/pop since they were "factory options with a warranty"

There's a big difference between factory option and dealer-modified.

i thought i remembered back in the day certain dealers were offering the comptech accessories with the nsx as well, sort of a dealer-installed option (which as posted by thomsbrain is totally different from factory-installed). its kind of like the dinan accessories offered at bmw dealers for a time, too, which included superchargers, etc.

There is no mention in any sales brochure concerning a "factory" SC option for any year model.

Because it never was. It was a dealer add-on.
