Default Diff blown.....

I have a hondacare warranty and I know the topic has been discussed cause I did the search but I took my car into the dealership for a noise about a month and a half ago and they said it was no big deal. I have not driven the car much since then and today coming away from a railroad track(without a clutch drop), just some decent acceleration the diff blew. it made a nasty sound and started to clunk. I pulled over immedietely and called Alstate which sent a tow truck that took 3 hours to get to me. I had the car dropped off by the dealership. All i have are Exhaust and CAI do you think they will cover it, specially because I had taken it into them before and actually made an appointment in the early morning to take it in on friday to let them look at it again?

I have heard Hondacare is very strict about any mods at all, but you may have a chance since you have already brought it in once complaining of the noise. If they give you any trouble, stress the fact that you tried to take care of this earlier before anything was actually destroyed.

yeah, I Have the documentation that the car was taken in to them once before with a strange noise that I claimed was coming from the transmission. They said it was no big deal. So I am hoping they will honor up to the warranty and take care of it. I will let you guys know tomorrow morning.

Check your service records. VTM-4 is evil.

He took it to the Honda DEALER before - thats different from the HondaCare Rep inspecting the car.

From past experience on this board ANY mods will void out your HondaCare warranty - resulting in claim denial. A local member had his transmission claim denied because of a CAI and carbon fiber hood - both of which have NOTHING to do with the tranny.

I would say your only hop is to get your CAI and exhaust off before it gets inspected by Hondacare.

That's against the law. They cannot deny a claim if the mods are not related to the damage. Unforunatley stealerships will try to get away with this unless you bring legitimate documentation that the mod was not the cause of the damage.

If you change so much as a lug nut, the extended warranty claim "could" be denied for anything. It's up to the dealer or repair shop and holder of the extended warranty to not read the fine print.
