I'm pretty sure the engine is the K20A, which is used in the newer civic type-r and integra type-r. Just for reference, the RSX-s I think uses the K20A2 which has a couple differences from the K20A in the CTR and ITR. The K20A is a super popular swap even for non-honda vehicles. I know a company has put the K20A in an elise and an exige.

Only the eurospec atom gets the honda engine
the standard drivetrain for the US Atom is the GM Ecotec 2.0l same as in the chevy cobalt SS

I saw one recently at Hondata that was being tuned for an owner in the Pacific NW. It had the Honda engine in it. Don't know if he imported it special, or what.

It is a US option for the Atom. Back on topic- you can mount the f20c or f22c in any direction you want. The major issues would be things like oil pump pick up orientation and oil return provisions. Clearly the transmissions are different from front drive to rear but mounting an engine doesn't matter. It doesn't know the difference.

I'm Confused here...What motor comes in the Atom?
B18c5-Integra Type R 97-01 1.8
B18c-Jdm Integra Type R 96 and up 1.8
B16b-CTR 96-2000 1.6 Liter
K20a-Jdm Type R 220 Hspw 2.0
K20a2-US Type S motor 200 Hspw 2.0

I have no idea if it's possible or feasible to bolt up a FWD tranny like a K series to a F20c... I know that motor swaps for pretty much all mid-engine cars are almost always transverse from the factory, probably to keep custom fabrication to a minimum.

Do you mean the honda engine is the option? According to www.arielatom.com the ecotec is the standard powerplant. Built in a joint Fiat/GM plant in Germany no less. I would definitely go with a Honda option all other things being equal.

(Sorry for the semi-hijack)

Guys, the K20 that's available is more than substantial but the answer we are all looking for is F20B. Nearly all the revs of the F20C but built for a fwd platform. Which is the platform of the RWD Atom.
