Talking Differences of Shift Knobs

Ok I saw on the other thread about a cf knob and it looked real hot.
Rick offers ti and aluminum for 160 and 45 respectively, and the cf knob is at $75. I'm just really wondering what is the differences between those? I think I asked the diff between ti and aluminum b4 but I wanna know how CF knob is like compared to those two in terms of weight, feel. $75 is alright to me and I'm looking to buying one since it looks damn hot to me unless it doesn't function well. Can CF withstand my sweaty hand too?

I don't know about Ricks CF knob, but I put a CF knob on my car awhile back. I took it off as soon as I got back from driving it the first time. It had no weight so it vibrated like crazy. So if you buy a CF knob be sure it's weighted.

And be aware that both ti and al knobs will be uncomfortable to use if it's either really hot or really cold.

Any metal ones will be smoking hot during the summer months. I wear gloves now whenever I am on the road during the hotter months.

I have an ARC and love it, in summer months when I leave the car I cover it with a towel

I agree with the above post weighted gives a much better feel than light weight knob with the S2K tranny

It's all based on personal preference. I love my Spoon Ti knob. The mf-er is hollow so it weighs next to nothing. It does take extra oomph to throw the shifter (especially with the axialflow shifter), but that's just the way I like it. I feel the transmission's notchiness when I f up, but it feels amazingly smooth when the shift is perfect.

Another upside of the hollow-ness of the Spoon knobber, is that it has relatively little heat retention. Touch it for a few seconds, and it's right up to "operating temp".

I think the CF knob would be much better at not getting too hot or cold. I remember I guy showed me his carbon fiber exhaust on his ducati and you could touch it even after he started the bike and revved it up.

I like round shift knobs though, and the stock s2k knob feels like it was made for someone with hands half my size. So I'll probably be looking into getting one of Rick's knobs soon.

The VooDoo knobs have enjoyed great popularity over the years for good reason. They're solid, well machined, lower on the stalk, and replicate the excellent ergonomics of the Ferrari shift knob. I've tried a good number of others but ended up with a VooDoo in both the '96 Miata I once owned and the MY03 S2K I have now. Highly recommended!

Oh... take a look at the MY08 CR shift knob too.... looks just like the VooDoo

I've had wood (72 240Z), metal (stock 05 S2000), plastic (95 4Runner), and two Voodoo shift knobs. I like the Ti Voodoo I now have on the S2000.

Voodoo ti are great but you have to catch a group buy to get one. Also, they aren't cheap but man are they nice. CF look good but as others have said, they are light.
