I took a friend out last night to show just a little bit of what the S-CAR can do. I didn't drop from the start but instead romped it at about 4000rpm in first. Looked good when I speed shifted to 2nd and the differential slamed against the undercarrage. There wasn't but a total of about 350 lbs. total weight. Is this normal. I have seen this in old mussle cars with a lot of weight.

No, didn't break, it just came in contact with the underside of the car.

How do you know that this happened? Is it the noise it makes?

Yes. This used to be a common occurence back in the 60s & 70s cars. you could always tell when you were overloaded when you would speed shift and this would happen. I was surprised when it happened in the s2k with no more weight than I had in it.

I think you are hearing something else. The differential is mounted in a subframe and does not move around like in an old solid axle car.

You know what i'm talking about then. I have not even looked under this car so what could be making contact? Drive line, transmission? I don't know now.
