I've noticed that the dipstick tends to pop up from it's fully engaged position during regular driving, i.e. between fill-ups. Has anyone else noticed this, or come up w/ a solution to stop it? I'm worried that with the dipstick not completely closed, dirt and/or other particulates will get into the crankcase. I'm sure they'll be caught by the oil filter, but I'm pretty sure that the dipstick's not supposed to do that.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Try rotating throu' 180 degrees, as I understand it can be plunged in both ways but only properly lock's in one of the positions.

Mine does it to. I wipe the oil off the little O rings near the cap and it seems to grip better.

Yep, mine does it too. It's somewhat bothersome, but I don't think it's causing any real problems.

Mine does this too, and I'm surprised I'm not the only one since this is the first I've heard of this in the 3 months I've been on S2Ko! For the last week or so, it's been gripping just fine though because, maybe as Allan said, I wiped the O-rings on the dipstick more thoroughly? Interesting.

I doubt it. If the engine was losing a half-quart of oil thru the dipstick hole, the engine bay and hoodliner would be coated w/ oil. A half quart is a pretty large amount of oil.
