Just found this thread with a search. Sorry for the resurrection

I've just had the Vortech SC installed and now I'm having this problem pretty frequently. I also switched to synthetic for the install. Has anyone found the cause of this problem? I'll try cleaning the rubber but I'd like to know if any damage is occuring.

Replace your PCV valve if you haven't lately. It vents crankcase pressure... if it's stuck shut, it won't work, which can cause the dipstick to pop up.

heffergm points to the logical source. The PVC valve(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) releases excess pressure from the oiling system. As the piston travels on its downstoke, it pressurizes the crankcase. This pressure MUST be vented or seals will be forced out(or the dipstick will pop out) and a leak will ensue The PCV valve is merely a check valve. It allows flow in ONE direction only. This problem seems to be a venting problem

Read about this prob before I got the car, did this...replace 1 spark plug cover bolt, using a stainless return spring, it simply hooks and unhooks on the plastic cover and swings away...

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm not sure I want to force it to stay down, I just want to find the source of the problem and put an end to it.

Design is the source of the problem. The sping is the insurance. Or just clean the green O ring really dry, and it might stay in...you could also try stepping up the thickness of the green o-rings.
