Default Dirty tail

After I wash my Spa yellow '02, black soot appears on my rear bumper even after driving around the block. It builds up to a crescendo by the end of the week - what's going on?

Fuel mixture to rich perhaps. Worst case you could be burning some oil. I've got a red MY2000 and don't notice any soot, just brown dirt.

I get the same thing. I burn oil pretty good. Otherwise I just figured it runs rich.

I get this too. I chalked it up to brake dust/and or the tire dressing flying off.

I HAD the same problem, until I leaned out the mixture with a VAFC. Now it's been over 3 weeks, I haven't touched the tips, and they still look freshly polished. I also get about 5 mpg better.

I get it too... my S dosen't burn oil. I thought it was road dirt getting kicked up on the car from driving. My S is white... it's real hard to keep clean.

I have a spa yellow and it also gets a fine black powder all over the rear bumper cover after driving it for a while. Given the high wear on the stock tires, I have just assumed that it was a fine rubber dust from the tires. I don't see how it could be anything coming out of the exhaust pipes since it also gets on the sides of the bumper right behind the wheels.

ditto.

i think those are just dirt on the bumper.

i am thinking about getting the top secret rear diffiser to keep the rear clean ...

but i do know that the car run really rich on the high end since i have black deposite on the exhaust tip after hard run (that means all the times )

I get that fine black dust on my rear bumper too. Spa Yellow S2000 as well. As mentioned above, I figure it is tire and or road dirt.
