Disappointment
I ordered one Honda s2000 2001 silverstone metallic/black leather last friday 17th of August. That weekend I was lucky to found this web site because I didn't hear anything about version changes for 2002. Evidently, next monday afternoon I went to my Honda dealer and ask about 2002 version. Nothing. Apparently, they dind't hear anything before about it. Ok so, one week after, Honda Spain confirm this point. My delivery date was end of November/beginning of December. Today is 20th of December and now I'm expecting my car towards middle of January. Yesterday I went again to talk with the salesman. I want to talk about price changes, accessories and car alarm (which Gemini alarm's model and modules should I install). About car alarm, the mechanical's leader is going to call me to discuss it. No problem. But, about price changes and accessories... ajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
In Spain, the price for the s2k (until 01') is,
6.300.000 car price
90.000 metallic paint
40.000 matriculation and circulation taxes
TOTAL 6.430.000
About ordered accessories,
26.000 car cover
7.000 avoid-steal wheel crews
57.000 rear wind deflector
The final price was 6.280.000 (accesories included)
I left a signal pay of 80.000
Several weeks after he calls me and confirm that the rear wind deflector will be not an accessory so he will have to recalculate the final price
So, yesterday, he shows me a brochure, edited by Honda Spain, where:
car prices increases in 22.000 ptas -> from 6.300.000 to 6.322.000
but metallic paint is included in the car price because (next year) for the spanish's market, Honda is going to provide only silverstone metallic/black or red leather s2000
So, what about my final price? it should be right to increase 22.000 ptas (from 01' to 02' version), decrease 57.000 ptas from rear wind deflector and 90.000 from metallic paint (both included in the car price)? or what? he only says 'wait until the car will be here, we discuss it then'
He is lucky because I love this car and I've been waiting during several months, otherwise I'll refuse the order and buy another thing, like new Mazda RX-8 or BMW z3 2002... but I can
... the problem is, if this is the way of work from the pre-sales people without having the sale closed (a signal pay of 80.000 ptas don't assure it) what is waiting for me after I'll have the car? what about the post-sales people? what about a possible mechanical problem? what about right car maintenance? I'm afraid
What can I do?
Thanks in advance

Hey Papi, you're lucky. Here you'd be paying 7.5M ptas!
Didn't they set a cap when you put down your deposit? I ordered mine 9 months before I got it, without knowing the final price. I did however have a maximum price. In the end it cost exactly that as could be expected.
Honda is not that big in Spain. I rarely see one when I'm there. You may have less dealers to service you, but it shouldn't be much of a problem. I believe Honda has concentrated their warehouse in Belgium, so all of Europe get the same level of service. I never had to wait more than 3 days for parts.
The only alternative you can consider for the S is the Boxster S, which, at least in my country, is almost double the price. Maintenance will be double as well if not more. You don't need to think, really, to see which is the better deal.
Insist on '02 however. Print some web pages from the Honda american site and show them to your dealer. In Portugal all dealers know about the '02 model.
