Several folks on this site have posted trouble with their kill-switch installations.

I have really wanted to make this "mod," but I will not do it. I'm worried about electrical problems in my car.

I don't take my kids in the S. Personal choice and nagging "better half."

jcavalie is correct in the above post
I started the gb thread. Site he references also provides a list of gov't approved installers. I am scheduled for installation shortly, so will post a photo on the gb thread asap

Forgot to mention - I'm having Honda of San Francisco do the installation for me. Hopefully they'll get it done without causing an electrical gremlins. They claim they've done them before for both the Del Sol and the S2000.

As for PJK3s post - I've actually put the forward facing seat in the car and gone through the "lock the tensioners" process. But this Fall I'll be driving my daughter more often, so this will give me better piece of mind.

I would NEVER put my son's rear-facing car-seat in there with the airbag enabled.

J,

How'd you get HONDA to do the installation???? I'm shocked. Every Honda dealer I spoke to said "it's a liability issue, no way!"

That's great. Too dang bad I don't live on the west coast!!!

This has been beat to death..... i had a switch put into my 2000 S2000....but in hindsight.... i won't put any switches in cars...... my kids are 7 and 9 now, which is plenty old..... the kids that get hurt when airbags go off are almost always unrestrained....... my kids always wear a seatbelt so I am not concerned.......

I would have to guess you could just unconnect the airbag would be cheaper..... the helms manual explains how...it takes about 45 seconds to take the lower dash panel out and pull the plug on it.....

Well, maybe the situation has changed regarding installation, Scot. jcavalie is the first owner I've heard of who has had this done at a dealership. Even getting AHM's blessing to do this (and warranty??) would be a huge step forward.

As for the merits / problems with airbag technology, I agree (it has been beat to death).

well, if i knew that i would be driving my daughter regularly in the car, i would seriously have to consider a switch, but unlike your situation, it's only a 'treat' for her and not a very regular thing.

and i didn't mean to imply that you would place a rear facing seat in w/ the airbag enabled... i hope you didn't take that as a personal attack... i was just stating that to cover my butt from all the flames i was anticipating on this subject... i would hope that anyone who has a young child now realizes that rear facing seats near an airbag is a NEVER NEVER NEVER thing...

Chazmo -- funny you mention that.... i inquired about doing it when i purchased the car and my dealer was more than willing to perform the work and warranty it... perhaps i'm just lucky? in fact, they even mentioned having done it previously.

Chazmo -- my dealer is Team Honda of Baton Rouge in Louisiana.

jcavalie -- glad i didn't offend. usually this topic brings the flaming judgementals out of the woodwork, and i wanted to make sure that the first civil thread i've read on the topic wasn't going south...
