Thumbs up Do all exhausts drone?

While I love the car, I miss the sound of a nice exhaust.

I had a 2004 Audi A4 before this, and while the exhaust was not very loud, I absolutely loved the sound (it was a Thermal R&D, FWIW). It did drone, but only at a limited RPM range (maybe 2700-3100). In the backseat it was bad enough that people complained, but in the front seat it was barely audible. I don't care about my passengers, but I want to be able to answer my cell phone or listen to the radio while I'm cruising on the highway.

I know that with minimal soundproofing it will be hard to find something with no drone, but what about with minimal drone?

My other concern: I don't want the exhaust to sound like most other modified hondas. I know the s2000 is very different from other Hondas, but I notice that many of the exhausts have typical fart cans, which are less than appealing.

I take it, that I will be forced to stay stock?

Our engines have a natural drone at 4k rpm. I have an 01 w/ stock exhaust and when I hit a constant 4k rpm, I can hear a drone. An aftermarket exhaust will only amplify the drone.

My Fujitsubo exhaust didn't drone. It sound almost like stock but deeper. Even in VTEC, it is not that loud.

I would say my JIC Magic drones at anything below 6000 RPM. I have to keep reminding myself that it only weighs 17 lbs. Sounds great in VTEC. Anything below sucks.

17lbs! You must have the single. How do you like it? I was thinking of checking out their Dual SS one......

A testpipe helps the stock exhaust drone less.

My old HKS with a testpipe setup didn't drone on the highway. Above 3800rpm (almost 70mph) it was slightly louder then stock, but when you would open it up or decelerate you definitely knew it was there. For just crusing though around 70mph on the highway there was no drone, but if you kept it at 3,000rpm that was the droning rpm, but you can always speed up or downshift.

I dont like it for street, but my main concern was reducing weight for autocross. I have the stainless pipe with Titanium muffler. I should have gotten the full Titanium setup. It only weighs 12 lbs.

(Stock exhaust weighs 58 lbs.)

Don't pay any attention to my opinions on sound. I am half deaf and my idea of a nice sound is the "Cleveland Symphony" in full song through a pair of ANSA Euro GTS mufflers.
