Default do lots of high revs hurt the car?

it sounds like it is going to break, but does it even faze the engine at all or continue revving high for a whole day? long term effects?

it's fine....as long as you're not doing it CONSTANTLY e.g. driving on the freeway for an hour in 2nd or 3rd gear.

I've done a few 30+ minute sessions of over 6,000 RPM... I wouldn't say it's a big deal really.

The more your car see's that rev range, the more you want to keep up on your maintenance.

I don't know if other cars respond so well to redlining as Hondas do. I drove my Integra up past 150k miles, taking it to 8k very frequently, and the engine had no issues aside from a little oil consumption.

I love bringing the S2000 up to redline, but I hate "holding it" at any RPM higher than 6k for an extended period of time. In my opinion, anything below 6000 RPM is fine for cruising, but anything above 6000, and you'd better be going somewhere

I've owned my S for about 5 years and have participated in many performance driving schools and driving events in Texas (hot). A typical Drivers Edge (DE) event will involve 4 x 25-30 minute sessions a day for 2 days (8 total). During that time I rarely have the revs lower than 6K and regularly will bump up on the rev limiter (like 4-5 times per lap, ~60 times per session, ~500 times over the weekend). And I do this several times a year.

You bought a high-reving sportscar. Enjoy it.
