Default Do people hit their head on the soft top frame

There is a bar on the side of the soft top frame that I feel like I'm probably going to smack my head against in an accident. Has anyone that had an accident with the top up hit their head on the frame?

This is the passenger side:

I'm considering trying to pad it. I had some extra pipe insulating foam and it seems like it might do the job. It doesn't appear to interfere with the top going up and down either.

Padded driver's side:

I think this is valid concern in a side impact, even a light hit....I feel much safer with the hardtop in place. Good move on the padding.

Best thing you could do is not have an accident.

By your logic, then we wouldn't need to wear seat belts too.

I'm not seeing how that doesn't interfere with the top folding properly. The support bar above the hinge has to move backwards for the the folded top to sit properly and the padding you added makes it harder for that motion to complete. Your elastic straps that should pull the bar down look pretty well worn as well so unless you're holding the bar down with your hand while the top is lowering (like I have to do on mine), your top isn't folding all the way down.

That's so not true. And accident means it was unintentional, not unavoidable.

Most accidents can be avoided. And yes, you can go to jail for failing to avoid an accident... drunk driving, loaded firearms lying around a house with children, hungry pit bull and an unattended child...
