Yes, in case of a failure, I would be screwed.

The correct way to do it is to wire up a backup system that would unlock the doors and be powered off of a 9v battery. Then hide the terminals somewhere (in a wheel well or something) then attach a 9v battery and the door will unlock. I have not wired anything like that so I am VERY careful.
