Hi guys...

I am starting to notice in the cold that when I am turning the car in a full circle approx. 10 mph with the clutch pressed in... I hear clunking noises from the differential.

Again only happens at slow speeds when making a u-turn for example, while the clutch is pressed in. Especially for me when making a left turn.

I have 10,700 miles. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is not common.. and I don't have it.

It does sound familiar though.. the guys who eventually reported a diff replacement reported that first. Talk to the dealer.

I don't have that problem with my S2000, but my 944 Turbo made that noise when the CV joints were starting to wear out. Make sure that your CV joint boots are intact. If they are damaged, they can let dirt and water in, and grease out, wearing the joint prematurely. It could also be the differential fluid, be sure to check the level.

I dont have it, or at least havnt noticed it.
I thought that torsen had said something about that being normal for REALLY tight turns? maybe? maybe not?

Is your car new? The diff will break in and change how it acts slightly.

I too have the same noise, guess when I get my 1-2 grind fixed that will be something else for them to look at.

OK stupid question how do you check the diff. fluid level?

I had my diff replaced but it was a different problem. Mine was making noise under certain loads in all gears.

I think it was John (VaporTrail), Sondra's brother who had this problem. It was a serious problem on his car.

It's not a stupid question at all: I haven't looked it up in the S2000 literature yet, but for 99% of all rear-drive cars with a differential (as opposed to a combined transaxle like the 911/928/944 series), you remove the top (or fill) plug on the rear of the differential housing/cover plate, and the fluid level should just be even with that top hole. If a little doesn't actually run out when you remove the plug, you can stick your finger in there to feel around for the fluid if it's cool enough.
