I'm not an owner yet, but I hope to make an S my first convertable in a few months. I was just wondering: when the weather is nice, do you still put your top up everytime you park? Just when you're going to be longer than x minutes? What do you leave in the car that is visible (ie radar detector, garage door openers, etc)?

I don't use the S2000 as a daily driver, but when I do get to drive it, I usually leave the top down for short periods of time (lunch date, running into a store, etc.), and lock up my radar and anything else loose in the center console. For a work day, I put the top up after I park it. I live in a "relatively" safe area (Ventura County, CA).

I leave the top down. If it's a really hot day, I'll put on my cockpit cover.

I have an alarm with a proximity sensor, so I don't worry too much about people stealing things from inside the car. I still don't leave anything out in the open though. That's just dumb, and too tempting.

Another option is a good car cover. I park in a covered garage and just put the cover on to keep the dust off the car (especially the inside).

The top is very easy to put up unless you have the molded convertible top cover on. Then you have to find a place to put the molded cover (trunk or passenger seat).

I like the looks of the car with the convertible top cover in place so that's why I just use a car cover when I park it instead of putting the top up.

The cover is made by covercraft. I bought it from a sponsor of this site, that no longer exists (Top Notch). You can still get the cover, but you'll have to go to covercraft directly to get it. It'll cost you around $60 - $70.

Here's a link for you to see what the cover looks like:

http://www.covercraft.com/specialty_covers.htm

It's called an interior cover, and I think the car they are using to demo it is a Jag. Looks like they got a lot more color options for it now than they used to.

The cockpit cover connects to the trunk, door handles, mirrors and window wipers. It covers only the cockpit.

I keep my roof cover (or whatever it's called) on so it's faster for me to put the cockpit cover on than to take off the roof cover and then put up the roof.

Doesn't that take longer to put on the cover than to put the top up?
