Good afternoon gentlemen...

I had this problem with my 2005 also. This is a very easy thing to fix. Try this:

Step 1. Remove the rear taillight (right or left depending on which side is not flush).

Step 2. Push in bumper until it is where it should be.

Step 3. Using 2-3 self tapping screws (preferrably stainless), screw into the lip through the bumper cover at the very edge where it attaches to the metal edge that sits directly below the taillight. (sorry no pic at this time)

Step 4. re-install taillight.

Done

I was going to buy a used red 2004 s2000 but when I saw the defect, I completely changed my mind and bought a black 2005.(the defect isn't as severe on the '05)Defects like these should be immediately fixed. Especially on a car like ours.

I have an 04 and a good friend has an 05. Mine isn't popped out that far, but there is a small gap where the 2 panels meet the taillight. My friends 05 is the same.

My 05 has this too on the passenger side...I feel a little better knowing others have this too.....maybe honda will fix it
