Unhappy Does anyone streetpark their cars?

After reading another vandalism post I'm wondering if I should still buy a s2000 with so many people getting stuff jacked and broken into. I live in a neighborhood that is relatively safe (nothing ever happened to my s14) but i don't have a garage. I'm assuming most people here garage their s2k but I just want to see how many people has to street park and if anything ever happened to their cars. (of course this largely depends on the area but still wondering). I don't know how long I'll live in the same place or when i'll have a garage but living in NYC having a house with a garage is not as common as any other area...

So if there's any NYC owners w/o a garage could give some feedback I'd appreciate it, thanks.

I'd suggest not buying an S2K until you're sure that you're in a safe enough neighborhood where some random punks won't mistake the S as an expensive exotic and break into it.

in an area where "thug life" is prevalent i'd suggest a ford taurus rather than an s2ooo. gotta stay off the radar...

I'd live in a box to keep my car off the street.

true enough, it's heavily dependent on the area.
but, that doesn't mean punks dun sometimes walk into what are "good" areas.

vandalism can happen anywhere, with pretty much no reason.

i'm sure there is a good population of S2K owners who feel comfortable parking their S2Ks outside. i've had to do it at UCSD where i left my S2K parked countless nights. sure, it's a "good" area (La Jolla), but that didn't negate other students, or other random thugs wandering in. it's not like the parking lots were heavily guarded at night.

but if i were to make suggestion to you, i would hold off on buying a "nice" car if you're just going to park it in the street. it's your investment, and you'd want to protect it. maybe, it'd be best to wait until a garage or any other arrangements can be made to ensure its safety.

how about you buy a fiero and kit it to look like an S. that way it's cheap, looks just as sexy as an s and thugs will do a double take and leave it alone after they realize the S2000 seats they just stole is just some crappy pontiac fabric.

whats that you say? a Fiero doesn't drive like an S2000?
then buy the S already. broken window and keyed body panels wont take away the fun-to-drive factor when youre behind the wheel.

my car is street parked, in the middle of china town for most of the week.
if my seats get stolen, i'll just buy a set of del sol seats off ebay.
i dont worry about the dents and scratches on the car even the rust don't bother me. i drive it year round and i have fun with it! and i don't have to live in a box.

I've parked my S out of the garage and in the street one night while some work was being done to the garage. You don't know how many times I've woken up to check up on the S when I hear ricey exhausts drive by. This is in Brooklyn btw...
