Does it only do it if you go from reverse to 1st? If so, you might need to tighten your axle nut.

It happens when you're stopped right? From Neutral to 1st it makes a "clunk" as soon as the shifter goes into first right? I think it's just the gearing shifting into position. I have it on my '07 with 23k miles...I've never been worried about it.

clunk noise when you put it in gear? thats your tranny. if you simultaneously push down the clutch and put it in 1st gear you will get that noise. it's normal. you're not letting the transmission enough time to stop spinning before putting it in gear. try holding down the clutch for a couple seconds before you put it in gear and you won't hear it.

Agree with those above, this should be normal fromt he way you are describing it and the fact that it doesn't happen everytime leads me to believe it is just a timing issue on your part.

That's due to the mainshaft in the transmission coming to an abrupt stop when you put the tranny into gear.

If you leave it in gear when coming to a stop and leave the clutch engaged, it will slow down the mainshaft as the engine slows down and reduce the clunk the next time you put it into 1st. If you disengage the clutch at a high RPM, the mainshaft will take a long time to slow down from this speed and will cause a hard clunk if you put it gear before it does.
