Does the hardtop add roll-over protection?
Probably about as much as leathers on a cyclist: not much as far as impact protection, but keeps your skin away from the pavement sliding by. Could be worse if caught on an edge of curbing or something.
Keeps your arms and hands in the car and therefore from getting crushed by the rollbar or windshield in a roll-over.
Arm restraints are usually used in open-top racing cars to perform the same function.
Probably also helps prevent the windshield from collapsing as easily.

Anyone else have an opinion?
I'm 5'6 and the standard roll hoops clear my head, but I have heard that certain track events, such as Trackmasters wouldn't allow me to run without extra rollover protection.
I wonder if the hardtop, while not adding any real rollover protection will give enough of the illusion of protection that Trackmasters would let me run.
Any opinions? 3333-Gary what do you think?

I doubt any hardtop would offer much added protection. You have to consider how they are attached to the car, basically the same way the softtop is.
As the weakest link in the chain, I wouldn't trust those two front clamps to hold the hardtop on in a rollover.
