I havent seen how a hardtop installs up-close so I was wondering if you hardtop owners could tell if the hardtop mounts so that its flush up against body paint or not.... I'm just wondering because i notice that when just about anything is up against paint it will wear it a bit over time, like when you have one of those sunroof deflectors for a few years and take it off you can usually see the outline of where it mounted up against the paint. Does the oem hardtop mount against the paint anywhere or no?

 

No. The hardtop has a rubber gasket around its base and it sits on the rubber trim that goes around the softtop. The hardtop does not touch the paint.

I believe shin-etsu grease will do the job...

 

where to i put the grease and where can i buy it?

 

on the rubber seals (do NOT get it on any paint)
