Does the S2000 have 3 stage Vtec??
3 stage vtec only occurs in SOHC motors.
The term "stage" is sort of misleading, as it is referred to in different ways.
With 3 stage, only one intake valve opens in very low RPM, then two, then the VTEC lobe kicks in at high RPM increasing lift and duration.
With 2 stage, IMO, this is just normal VTEC as we see in most higher end Hondas: ITR, Prelude, GSR, S2000. The GSR in particular has a IAB that opens in unison with the VTEC lobe engaging.
With single stage, only the intake side has a VTEC mechanism. The exhaust side is unchanged throughout the RPM band.
In any case, who cares?
