Door Panels
Can the MY2002 door panels be used to replace MY2000 panels? I'd like to get the built in tweeters in my MY2000. Does the MY2000 radio have the ability to "push" tweeters or does a MY2002 radio have to be installed also? Or, could a simple crossover be added to the existing radio?
Also, do the MY2002 panels only come in all red or can you get the red/black panels like those that came in MYs 2001 and 2000? If anyone knows any of these answers, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Call Jody at Showcase Honda parts in town - he should be able to tell you. He sits in front of the Honda parts computer and researches stuff most of the day.
I am pretty sure that the panels should fit and that they are only available in black, ALL red and blue.

I can't answer your question directly but I have seen the wiring diagram for the speakers on an '02 and it looks like there is no cross-over used. The tweeters appear to be spliced into the main door speackers in parallel but the '02 HU is a bit more powerful than the previous years.
Will they fit? Yes
Can stock MY00-01 Radio push the tweeter? Yes but adding a quality set of Components would be better. There is no crossover and the tweeter is just spliced into the lines. It does have a cap to block low feq.
Also, do the MY2002 panels only come in all red or can you get the red/black panels like those that came in MYs 2001 and 2000?No But the insert from the MY00-01 door panels should fit. It is 8-10 screws that hold it inplace.
Also I want to say that each panel is 800 or so from the dealer. The Tweeter pods ar seperate parts ($56 ea).

Yes, they will fit, But I would STRONGLY advise you put a good set of speakers in an amp/new deck before you go with new 02 panels (if its just for tweeters). It would be less expensive to do so.
The 00-01 radios are a little underpowered for a component set. If you do go with JUST an 02 deck get a set that's sens. rated at 92db or better. The premium brands tend to have lower - mid 80sdb typically which is fine (and have better sound reproduction) if you have the power so they are best mated to an amp. There's an empty cove in toward the back of the door panel thats removable and excellent to mount a crossover.
I think the door panels run 360-400 per panel. I don't believe you can order in USA 00-01 red/black w/pods.

I had to turn my home's furnace on today. My wife is currently out camping up north and it snowed on her a couple of nights ago.Anyway, back to the tweeter thing. The dealer here will NOT sell me just the tweeter enclosures. I MUST buy the whole door panel.
Needless to say, I'll do without.

Actually, I don't mind the stock system. After adding the rear panel speakers, I'm OK with it. I'm not a big audiophile so I thought a set of tweeters in the doors might be a nice augmentation. My "real" sound system is in my home. In my car, I just want moderately good "noise".
