Default Double-clutch, do you?

I wanted to go hardcore today, so I did double-clutch upshift and downshift. Let me tell you. It was totally HARDCORE. I thought I was a handicap when I step out of the car. My leg felt like I was pressing 300+ pounds and lower back still hurts 5 hours later. I should have parked at the Handicap parking

Double clutching is only needed when down shifting. It might help a little in the redline range if you wanna shift fast (er than you should).

Definitly not needed or helpful on upshifts. I have been double clutch downshifting for over 20 years and still do it more out of habbit than need in the S2000. You must be doing it wrong or pushing to hard to be sore. I have driven for hours in the mountains before and never gotten gotten a sore leg.

Double-clutch upshift 1st to 2nd reduces grind when tranny is cold.

I double up 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd when the tranny is cold, never double up after its warmed up.

I almost always double down just by habit, one of my other cars has a crashbox, so double clutching is a habit for me.

The main reason to do a double clutch is to save your synchos from wearing out. But it just takes too long to do it, 1 full second. You only need to do it when you want to down shift and go faster, cause you needed the torque to pass another car. I spent a whole week practicing it a month ago. I dont do it any more. To double clutch, say that you are moving on 4th at 50mhp and about 4500, hold down the clutch and go to neutral, let go of the clutch. Now, the whole point is to go faster. While you are still in neutral and the car is rolling at 50mph, rev your engine to 500-700-1000rpm more than where your were at, which was 4500 (to determine what rpm to rev to, what rpm will you be at if you were to normally to drive 50mph on 3rd gear). Remember to compensate the rpm when rolling up/down hill. Now, press the clutch and shift to 3rd, then rev match. If you do everything correctly, you will be in 3rd gear, the car will not suddenly lunge forward, and rolling at 50mph with more torque to go faster. It pretty easy to practice this, just get on a long highway and stay in the grandma lane. Prep your mind to know what rpm to be at, so there will be no thinking involve while engaging this act. After doing it a few times, you wont even need to look at your rpm and keep your eye on the road. So at first, practice with no one in front of you. It's a great feeling once you done it correctly.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but: Beyond the fact that you are letting the clutch out in neutral rather than holding it in, what is the difference between double-clutching and rev matching?
