Yes, double-clutching is the proper way to shift. Just ask your grandfather.

No, I've tried it and think that double-clutching is for the birds and isn't necessary with a synchronized trans.

Huh? Last time I checked I only have one clutch pedal.

I have a problem to shift that I have to do double-clutch every time.
I dont know how to shift to match the rev without double-clutch, or heel and toe when downshift.
I have a habit that I dare not to release the clutch without double-clutch and heel&toe.

it is all because the way my dad teach me how to drive manual shift.

can someone please teach me how to shift without double-clutch?

xviper, an excellent description... maybe the best I've ever read.

As for double clutching - yea, on my non-syncro'd 1st gear 42 year old MGA; as for the S2000, no need to IMO.

I don't double clutch much, but rev-match all the time. I know it's not good for longevity, but I hate using the brakes.

krhorrocks, don't you mean engine braking? Rev matching will save a bit on wear and tear of your clutch. Engine braking is using the engine to slow down by coming off of the gas, and letting the engine compression stroke slow down the car. There is a debate as to whether using engine braking will shorten the life of the engine vs using regular brakes and putting the clutch in whenever you slow down.

I use rev matching when downshifting prior to using engine braking when slowing down.
