Default Dreaded Failure

So I was driving the other day and I immediately started to hear a really bad rubbing sound from the passenger rear wheel. I took it to Honda to get it inspected and it turns out that I needed a new hub and bearing. The thing that really annoys me, is that I am now just three months out of warranty and while I was under warranty, I took it to the same dealership explaining my "wheel clicking" problem and they pretty much blew me off. I showed them the TSB and they claimed that it was my rotors that needed to be turned. After I got my alignment done a few weeks later the clicking went away and pretty much only started returning last week prior to the really bad rubbing. Of course now after being on the phone with Honda North America and the dealership fighting to prove to their incompetence, no luck. They stated that the axle nuts and the bearings are not related what so ever even though in the TSB the language connects the two. I am going to have to contact the BBB and try going through them. It is my mistake for not fully researching the issue all the way and taking it seriously on the on set of the problem, but I do also feel that they completely misdiagnosed the problem while under warranty and should have the decency to admit it. Honda knows this because of the high volume of S2k owners that have had this issue and I am very disappointed right now in their customer service.

My concerns are now, do I need to get an alignment done again after the hub replacement? Is it possible that the problem has affected the diff and/or lsd? Other than the noise, the car drives fine. They are claiming that none of these will be an issue. Figure I would ask you all (the experts).

FYI, the dealership in question is Landmark Honda in Alexandria VA. Is there a place on the forum where I can write up this place so others can avoid being hassled by them?

Thanks everyone.

Could it be from this accident? The axle click won't destroy a bearing but this accident could.

I don't think it is because of that, nothing is certain, but I drove nearly 30k miles without having any issue and the car felt completely fine. Sorry for the topic description.

For what it's worth, I had the exact same scenario - axle clicking that mostly but not entirely went away from axle nut retorquing, later followed by a complete wheel bearing failure. I replaced both the bearing and the hub.

Depending on how the take the knuckle off, you shouldn't need a realignment. The diff is not a factor.

Oh, and I also ended up needing an outboard cv joint because it broke when putting everything back together. (Pictured is the part the axle nut goes on to.)

BTW, if an axle nut is pretty loose... the bearing can spin in the hub and all three items will need replacing.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going to pick up the car in about an hour. When the guy called he also recommended that I change the brake and power steering fluid. I just started laughing because I changed the brake fluid not even 500 miles ago.

"BTW, if an axle nut is pretty loose... the bearing can spin in the hub and all three items will need replacing. "

I hope that when I deal with the BBB I will be able to prove this. I have proper documentation plus everything Honda has released about this issue but when people are forced to pay out they will fight it naturally lol.

Thanks again.

It'd have to be loose, loose. Not 185ft*lbs vs 225 loose.
