Can anyone suggest a product or method on how to get rid of sun dried water stains on the windshield? Window cleaners, dish washing degreasers and other household cleaners don't seem to work.

IS200,

You know an application of rain-x will take away some water stains on the windshield. Rain-x will help keep your windshield from staining also.

Vinegar should do the trick. This also works with water spots on your paint.

Boy, the water must really be soft where you live. Vinegar (mildly acidic) should neutralize the alkali stain.

A bottle of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar (5% acidity) should do the trick. It's available at your friendly neighborhood grocery store.

Forgot to ask, vinegar won't mess up the paint at all, right?

You can use a fine polishing compound, or Softscrub cleaner on glass for a light polish. Zaino makes a glass cleaner that will remove any stain.
