The price of a 90' 240SX? Are you talking a super clean 240 with suspension and other upgrades and a SR20 swap?

To the OP: You bought the wrong car for a drift project; not because it can't do it... but it's not going to do it well. The long power band, lack of torque, diff, and dimensions are going to make holding or chaining a good drift more difficult. That being said it's going to take a good chunk of change to turn the S into a viable driftster.
Between the suspension and diff alone, you're looking probably at 2.5-3g's in mods, just to get at a workable starting point. Drifting a S is not impossible, but its not cost efficient and honestly not really what the care was bred for (but you bought it, so do as you like).

If we're talking drifting as in drift competitions, then it's probably the wrong car indeed.
If we're talking drifting a few turns on a track (without the need for huge smoke, crazy angle, etc... in other words, not for show), the S2000 is a great car for that (minus the diff that you'll destroy sooner or later).
Heck, even Keiichi Tsuchiya said the S2000 is like an AE86, only much better, and that's the car he started with (drifting).

A lot of negatives on drifting an S2000 on here and only a few positives.
I built the RSR S2000 and helped AEM with their drift car. There is a lot of wrong and right advice posted but what most don't know is the S2000 is an awesome drift car! I know most people on this forum say it's lame but, to each their own. You don't buy a car you like to do what everyone else wants.
it is a bit pricey to get it to drift but that depends on if you are going to compete or just make t a street/strip car. swap the rack, install a diff, lighten the car. If you want to drift even easier turbocharger it but that isn't necessary for street strip. As far as the s2000 not being a good competition car, that's totally not true. At a point when both Steph's car and the RSR car ran multiple pro drivers took a spin in both cars and there was not one negative remark. A few drivers actually wanted to switch chassis. In the list of positives remarks include Ernie Fixmer, Alex Phieffer, Steph, Tanner, Rhys, JR, Orido and the list goes on.
It might not be what the car is made for that's not to say it can do it and win. 5 podium finishes is not too bad at all. So again, swap the rack, diff and lighten it up. Turbo is a huge plus but don't clutch kick 2nd gear.

S2k is my first rwd car. Got it in 2004 i think and ever since ive been into drifting.
Being that its the first rwd car ive ever drifted, it seemed like it was a good drift car. IMO, its easily controllable for drifts under 100km/h.
Now i havent really done any drifts in 3rd gear but i would assume that it'd be difficult with our torque-less motors unless there are wet roads and bald rear tires.
lately, i have been clutch kicking 2nd gear and it seems like its been accelerating the wear on my drive shaft boots. I had my cv cups swapped beginning of the summer and already the driveshaft axle is vibrating under acceleration again.
Also recently, ive been able to drift an S13 240sx with stock KA24 motor with just an exhaust i think and stock open diff.
And that already felt ALOT easier to drift and have more angle then the s2k. Also found that connecting drifts were super easy.
That being said, i would LOVE to have a track/street daily S2k and an S14 240 for drifting. I am actually considering getting rid of my s2k for a 240 to have for a year or so and then hopefully jumping back into an S2k when i can free up some more money.
