Default Drifting the S2000

Just curious if the s2000 is capable of good drifting and if anybody has done it. I just want to know because im a big drift fan. For example is it an excellent base for drifting like the silvia and the old corollo gts(AE86) or is it hard like the 2nd generation MR2's?

mine used to drift quite easilyuntil I lowered and added wider wheels. Now not so much.
I suppose if I set it up differently, hardened the rear suspension and added a little positive toe out back it would. then it would get scary.

I've got a set of rear tires that will allow a lot of drifting. Remaining tread is about 1/16 to 3/32; the car slides very nicely.

I got new rubber and boy, does it corner now, and not slide.

ps, If you would like those rears, email me!!

Definately a good drifter, if you've ever get to see BM VCD's, then you'll appreciate how sweet the stook drifts

Funny u mention that S2000 drifts good on the Best Motoring videos...

The drifter driver Dori Dori (Keitchi Tsuchiya) has another program called 'Hot Version' where he tries to drift a S2000 in the wet... he succeeds after an initial spin out... and later commented that while it is possible to drift a S2000, it is very difficult...
The S2000 is built for GRIP racing... and can take corners at some dazzling speeds with it stuck like glue to the track...a car built for the proper racing technique.... "slow in fast out" cornering via perfect heel and toe braking...
Thats a good episode of Hot Version that one... as a Amuse S2000 vs Spoon S2000 vs Spoon 11,000RPM Civic and Spoon Integra...
Shall i say who won that race.... its one of the S2000s

P.S You want a drifter... go the 200SX! much cheaper than the S2000 too... 184kW, 275NM Torque RWD and 1250kg with a chassis and LSD purpose built it seems for easier sideways action!

hey but a s2000 drifting now thats gotta look good! Well so is it possible to drift easily with a stock s2000 no mods? SO lowering makes it harder to drift right? I'm nto a big fan of grip racing because well ti gets boring after awhile thats why i love world rally championship! Its just entertaining to me. I was thinking of getting a AE86 but hell its pretty old and it would be hard to find a new engine that fits it which has low miles. I also learned that i have to adjust the camber angle or something? How much do 200sx's go for these days?

lowering the S2000 makes drifting more difficult because rear camber is increased.

hmm i presume you drift? well i saw a MR2 2nd generation drift and my friends got mr2's and they drift and all but im wondering if it would be a hard car for a beginner to drift and plus its a MR. I also was watching an anime series inital d..haha i know i got no life but i was wondering if its true if the car is a MR you need to brake and gas while your drifting so you dont understeer or something so when you exit the turn you can accelerate.

The best cars to drift are Front engined RWD cars with tons of torque. Though the S2K meets the engine/drivetrain configuration, it has no torque down low and it's really a Front/mid-engine car (engine behind the suspension mounts in the front), which gives it low polar inertia--which means it spins easier than, say, a 300ZX, a Supra Turbo, a 240SX, Mustang or an M3 (the latter being the most easily drift-able car I've ever driven).
