Driveshaft/halfshaft spacers a must?

Hi all now from what Ive read if you lower your AP1 more than an inch it is reccomended that you buy some good quality driveshaft spacers. How is the driveshaft/halfshaft getting stressed from the increased drop? what do the these driveshafts/halfshafts do to help this problem? why arent AP2s affected by this problem?

It's borderline. But since Carbon Blue is just asking for information on the spacers it stays in S2000 Talk. If he wanted to know how to install them, then Under The Hood it would be.
