I have yet to drive in the rain in the s. Frankly, I'm a little scared.
Drive smart and you'll be fine. I've driven mine on packed snow--uneventful on Blizzaks. The s2k is actually a very competent all weather car with the appropriate footwear.

Unless you're a bad driver, either in skill or by driving dangerously, then you have nothing to be fearful of

Everyone's going to say something different, but to be honest I drove my S however I wanted in the rain and never ever had a problem.

It'll be my first time driving RWD in rain, but I'm a responsible and reasonable driver. I think being aware of the rain+rwd is half the battle?

Hey guys, we have alot of rain over here, infact i'd say it's wet more than it is dry.

I want some advice and tips on driving an S Spiritedly in the rain. I've been out in it today and always drive within my limits ofcourse, but i tried a variety of ways of turning into a corner.

Firstly i tried turning into a corner around 40 mph the corner being around a 70 degree bend with good tarmac. I turned in off the power and i felt the rear twitch which i thought was unsual as i would expect it to understeer a little.

Secondly on the same corner i turned in lightly on the throttle at the same speed about 20% on the throttle and it felt very much the same.

I'm no driving god, well i'm good in a FWD with a LSD on track but this is a different kettle of fish,

So really, please no slating, i'm just after tips and generally wandering if there is a way to induce understeer before the rear will break away as a sort of early warning.

Thanks guys
steering, brake and gas inputs should be smooth. nothing abrupt.

Brake much sooner and slower, as you turn the wheel your foot is off the brake and waiting in mid-air to step on the gas. As your wheel straighens out gradually step on the gas.

Spirited driving in the rain = Being smooth & gentle. More Jenson Button than Lewis Hamilton

Good luck on track

Other than lots of practice, I would say tires for the rain are your best bet. Assuming you have the practice down, I'll talk about tires.

I put new tires on my S a few months ago. I knew that the times I would have the most trouble is when it rains here. Lots of street flooding, and oil oozes out of the streets. I sacrificed some dry performance for wet traction and a tire that didn't try to hydroplane all over the place. I ended up with some Bridgestone RE760 Sports. They are a bit mushy on the sidewalls, but worth it for the road conditions here. Drivers here in rush hour, tend to cut you off, and slam on their brakes. Or someone decided it would be a good idea to merge with your fender. Those tires keep me out of the ABS. The old tires (with 25k on them) were dz101's in the rear and re050's in the front. I would meet ABS almost weekly because of rush hour.
Granted I would not consider them a high performance tire for track days, but they have saved my butt a few times on the street.

Awhile back I read a thread where someone said it was better to know the limits of your car with lesser tires than assume the performance of a good track tire on the street. Or something like that.

If you can (i would love to try this) find a SAFE VACANT lot of tarmac and try to break ur grip during an arbitrary turn to see how the car behaves. Too bad the cops here in CA are ####ing sharks
