I had the same concern when I bought my MY02 Suzuka blue -- would the blue interior wear on me? I have a short commute, but I still drive it every day.

That concern didn't make it through the first week. I love everything about the car -- including the interior. It's just another piece of how well the entire package fits together.

The place I rented from is City Rent-A-Car. Their website is www.cityrentacar.com. Their rate for the S2000 is $125/day on weekdays ($175/day weekends). That was the only place in the Bay Area that I could find with an S2000 for rent. You can rent them in other cities like Vegas, but I was looking for someplace relatively local.

If you're coming from a Civic Si, the '04 S2000 should have plenty of torque.

Yeah, this torque issue is so overdone. Forget about the numbers, yes it only as 153 ft/lb peak torque, but the gearing makes up for it. It's like driving a motorcycle, tiny engines, but most of the time you're cruising at such a high revs there is no lack of acceleration. Yeah, you can't pull away from people if you're below 3k, but you really have to work hard to stay below 3k, like shifting into 6th going 30 mph. The cool thing is that even when you're revving around 6k, the engine doesn't feel like its spinning that much. It doesn't sound harsh. In fact, it is so addictive to rev that high that you really want to be past 6k all the time. It's hard to fight that urge. If you want to spin your tires at every stoplight, then the S isn't for you. It really is best at a roll. I don't know why there is even an issue with daily driving, how many Civics, Neons, etc. are out there with smaller engines. I don't see people complaining about lack of torque in daily driving. If you're daily driving, you're usually taking it easy, if you want some power, just downshift damnit.

I've actually drove an SI for 4 years before going to a celica for a few months then finally the S.

You're a bit of a different story as you've been driving a beamer for awhile. Though I'm not sure what you have but I've been driving my dad's Z4(switched cars) for the past few days and it feels sooo torquey. The comments I've made to my dad and the comments my dad made to me is, IMO, typical. He says my car feels very sluggish at low RPM while I tell him his car is too torquey at times with the fun ending at 6.5k rpm.

What I'm trying to get at is that it's all really relative. What's torquey to some people may not be for others. The way I see it, it all comes down to whether you like to rev (like me) or don't like to (my dad).

I admit that the S feels average below 6k but I also feel that I don't need all that torque from the z4 when cruising around town or going thru traffic at work (so what if I make it to the next street light before the car beside me does).

Remember to enjoy your day with the S.. it's such a fun car to drive around on open roads. If you drive it thru rush hour like me, I don't think it's important whether it has lots of low end torque or not since there will always be some car infront of you which forces u to break.
