-look around for a good deal on winter tires and or wheels to mount them on for next year.
-consider getting a daily driver off craigslist. old pickup 4x4 or early 90's Toyota corolla, but keep the s2k and or r6. come summer you will want them.

All good advice given here, except for they guy suggesting bags of sand and the guy suggesting buying a beater.

I'm wondering why the idiots that post that you can't drive in the snow haven't shown up here yet.

ya like the guy says... just get the daily driver and put a bag of sand in back. dont be an idiot tho, its a wast of time stressing over the s2k in the winter.

you might not have room for 2 cars + the r6 so sell the s2000.

In Minneapolis, there will be ~5-7 days per year when it's too snowy to drive a car with low ground clearance and 2WD. If you don't need to get around on those days, then S2k with winter tires is fine for the rest of the time.

I tested my FJ in 2WD mode (I have dedicated winter tires) and there were some days where I would have been stuck if not for the 4WD.

There might be sales going on for winter tires when the season is over, so buying a set right now could save you some money. There are always sales before winter too so during either time you can find very good snow tires for a good price.

I'm running Toyo Garit KX and they are awesome. When I first got the S2K I had Kumho Ecsta on, and they're like you explained, floating on ice basically. The winter tires do help dramatically!
