How many of you are quicker drivers now you are in the S2000?

Given the following scenario are you quicker, the same, or slower?

Same circuit, RWD S2000, FWD normal car. conditions the same and car speeds the same.

I find that on a twisty that I love a lot and know very well I am less confident and slightly slower driving it in my S2000 than I am in my CRX (Del Sol).

Is this because I am placing the car into corners as a FWD and not RWD?

Sure I am in a quicker car but through sub 50 mph bends I am quicker in the CRX.

What do you think about mine and your own driving?

Sam.

Are you sure its not in your head? Maybe the crx feels faster/more dramatic. I know my S2000 feels more composed at 120+ than my miata(s) did at 85.

Its all about confidence...
a FF car would be easier to drive hard than a FR to most normal drivers...
Most people wont wanna push the S2000 hard knowing that a fish tail can be the result just braking too late by a split second or turning into a corner too late...
needless to say... balancing the weight and G-Force from back front and right left in a S2000 is tricky... small car... 50-50 weight distribution....
You got the car...but do you got da skillz!?

I probably don't have the skills! Should I be trying to 'place' the car into corners thinking of the rear wheel position for turning rather than the front?
What do others do?

I'm slower in the S2000 than in my prior car ('97 Supra TT) on relatively open road/fast sweepers, but I've never been faster w/ anything in the tighter twisties. It's all about learning the car's handling characteristics, discovering the limits in a controlled environment, applying basic RWD techniques, and getting comfortable w/ your car, the road, and traffic/road/environmental conditions.

i recommend you get into autox. you'll learn the car's limits and yours in an environment in which a spinout won't hurt your car or you (just your times).

i'd say initially, i was faster around your typical autox course in my ITR. i am gradually getting a handle on the RWD thing and i'm now probably as fast or slightly faster around the course than i was in the R.
