I wanted to say that but I hit the submit button before that! That is what I do now. The shifter is so fast to rocket dead center it now makes it much easier to make sure I dont miss shift.

These are approximate, so don't rip me on this too much guys, but its what I've used to estimate the best gear to go into.

Basically, I know that if I'm doing 65, thats too fast for 2nd (it tops out at 60), so I pop it into 3rd.
If you're doing 95, for example, drop it into 4th (because 3rd tops out at around 90)

Go into the lowest gear you can based on the speed that you are traveling for that instant VTEC jump.
If Im at 60mph I like to slow down to about 50-55 just so I can get a slingshot effect out of 2nd, but from 60 I would ease on the gas until 65 then drop into third. the maximum speeds really are 42.2 mph first and 65.8 in second when the limiter hits . . . I think 91 is closer and only topped 4th once and dont remember but mathimatically it works out to 6th is 166at 9000 but who knows what rpm the limiter hits?

if you are between 25 and 35 go to 1st
35-55 go to 2nd
55-75 go to 3rd
if you are at 55 and go to 2nd be ready to shift real quick!

All this shifting sounds hella fun.

So about the lack of torque issue...

When I step on the gas of torquey car staying in any gear, there is a steady push you can definitely feel...

In the S2000, the push really isn't there without changing gears. In order to accelerate and feel a push, you must downshift so that the engine is in the upper-reaches of RPM.

Am I getting the picture here?

I've had it for a month and I have miss shifted from 5th to 4th, when intending to go to 6th, a couple of times. No big deal, will get use to this shifter in time.

definitely 6-3 downshift is the best! 3rd is hands down my favorite gear to have some fun while cruising the freeways! absolutely no problems downshifting at say 65-70mph into 3rd, bumping her up to about 90-100mph, then into 4th for a little bit more, and then ease off--don't need the extra points my license.

SpaceNeedle,

I think you've got it. But my personal favorite is going 50 then dropping it into second. What a rush!

here we go, I found 'em

1 = 42.5
2 = 65.8
3 = 90
4 = 116
5 = 138.7
6 = 166.05

and with a 4.44 final drive like the Modena

1 = 39.7
2 = 60.8
3 = 83.9
4 = 107.1
5 = 128.07
6 = 153.33

Id like the new ring/pinion set
