Default dumb SALMESMAN

Hi guys, I'm in Dallas, TX
I just wanna share a story of a dumb ass salesman who tried
to pull me a scam.

I've been calling and leaving msgs everywere to purchase a S2k
(MSRP!!!!!!!!)

One Honda salesman(from Abilne,TX) returned my call today and said that I could purchase the 02 S2000 (blue) in 4-6 weeks.
I asked him the price and he said $1500 above sticker.

I said that's bull shit. I told him I will pay only STICKER.
since the demand for the S2000 is going down
also I mentioned slow economy.

The salesman said he would check with his sales manager
and call me back. (this is at 8pm in the evening!!!)

About a minute later he calls me back and tells me he got
his sales manager's approval.

He said all I had to do is make a deposit of $500.
I asked him "Refundable right?"

Guess what he said??

He said there is no way in hell we can refund you the deposit.

What an ass hole!

By Texas law, a dealership may not take a deposit on a car and not return it if the vehicle is not purchased. Give him the deposit, he has to give it back to you.

Peter, that does sound really retarded, I admit...

But a few things I thought of are...

Maybe your local Honda dealer isn't too big, and if they only get a handful of S2Ks (like 2 or 3), they better make damn well sure they sell them quickly...so that may be one reason they want you to stick to the car...

And number 2...

It may be because of the new Suzuka Blue color you want. Since it's a unique and brand new color (although a lot of people don't like it), it's still brand new...so therefore that could be another reason to hold your deposit (although unlikely).

Good luck though.

I'm trying to get a Spa Yellow 2002 at MSRP...still trying =)

My deposit would not be refundable either. The reason is that if it wasn't me, the dealership was not going to order any blue. They were going to order 2 silvers for the first shipment. If you can really get it at MSRP, go for it.

My $500 was down in Sep for the Blue at MSRP, but the dealer has not yet cashed the check.

Two things: First leave a deposit on an American Express card, the reason for this is if you don't buy the car you can dispute the charge and A/X will not pay the dealer also A/X do not have intrest because you pay the balance every month. Secondly my dealer told me they can not pick and choose what colors Honda sends them for the s2000, they get what they get. Now the dealer wouldn't be lieing to me, would he?

tomzimmer, your dealer is def. not telling you the truth. I ordered my 01 Spa yellow special from my dealer and he was able to order whatever color I wanted.

you are right. My dealership saw the most purchase are silver/red or silver/black. They order hack a lot more silvers in year 2000 than any other color.

I think the only menufacture that don't let you order a car is VW. I remember all dealership try to grab as many Beetles as possible as soon as they arrive the dock and entered into computer.
