Default dyno tune for stock S2000

What do you guys think of a dyno tune for stock 00 S2000, is there going to be any gain, specially the mid range. Has anyone tried it before. How is it compare to a 02-03 ECU swap. Which is better? Thanks

You can't "tune" an S2000 unless you get either a piggyback device such as a VAFC, or a standalone ECU. Tuning is done by changing air/fuel ratios, which can't be done in stock form without one of the aforementioned devices.

no you can tune any honda if you find a shop that is equiped with a hondata system. coletti motorsports in dayton, ohio races an rsx in some proffesional racing series and have the hondata software that san be used to tune a stock ecu on any honda car. they have a dyno to measure preformance and then tune fuel, air, vtec engagment, and alot more. they have never tuned a stock s2000 but get on average 30 more hp and alot better driveablity out of the cars they tune. so yes you can tune a stock s2000 you just need to find a shop that has a dyno and the hondata system, it is realy cool he has shown me the software and you can see all the vitals on screen and change everything at the click of a button.

In order to flash an ECU with Hondata or Uberdata, the ROM must be hacked. I don't think this has been done for the S2000 yet. That's probably why that shop hasn't done any yet...

According to hondata.com, they only sell a flash for obdI(~91-95 civics and integras) and K series engines(RSX).

Also, I wouldn't expect a stock S2000 to benefit from a new fuel map.

Our ECUs are NOT flashable or programmable in any way. the hondata systems will NOT work on our cars. The S2000 is the only honda that does not have a programmable or flashable ECU.

So I repeat, you can't tune a stock S2000 in any way shape or form. you need a piggy back or standalone system.

You'd be surprised how much you can get out of a new fuel map on the car in stock form.

The ECU on the S2k is one of it's biggest hinderances to gaining more power. There is a LOT of n/a power to be unleashed once you start with the ECU by replacing it.

Pleas define a "LOT". I've read up on this a bit and even an S2000 decked out with just about everything in the Mugen catalog (including ecu) only claimed to have 15hp over stock when tested by Car and Driver. Has ECU tuning come this far or does Mugen just release poor products in general? What I'd really like to see is a dyno test or two comparing a stock S2000 with a stock one with a different ECU. Does anything like this exist?
