From Edmunds: S2000 vs. Grand Am

"But what people really want is more torque, the stuff that forces you back in your seat as it twists the drive wheels at launch. Torque is what makes a throttle-down 185-horse Pontiac Grand Am with an automatic transmission spin its wheels and feel quicker off the line than a peaky 240-horse Honda S2000 with a manual shifter. Sure, the S2000 is ultimately quicker and stomps the Pontiac's butt when it comes to mid-range passing power, but unless the Honda's torque-deficient motor is revved hard at launch, the Grand Am is going to have the edge for at least the first 50 feet. "
Interesting...I never thought these 2 cars would be compared!

The Grand Am listed on Edmunds for 02 has 175HP, not 185 as they said. BIG DIFFERENCE! Now if they had the 185 model, the S is a gonner.
It was 65degrees here in Massachusetts today. Took a little VTEC spin in my torqueless car. If it had gobs of torque, I think I'd kill myself in it. (no jynx here please) It sure is a quick little 4 banger.
