Evene though that is the best solution it is too much for me too worry about. I will still buy a car cover for overnight parking in my driveway but I dont feel comfortable taking it on and off every time.
I keep a car under a cover in my drive way. Only problem with taking it on and off is you have to watch out for the spiders. They love to crawl up under the cover.

I personally use a windshield screen I bought from advanced auto parts. It works pretty well with my 15% tint on the driver and passenger side windows. Also, it folds up and can be slid under the seat. The best thing I noticed was the differance in the Dash temp. With the red dash I definatly want to preserve it as long as I can.

$7.99 with a pretty good fit, I would like something thicker but can't complain because of the price.

i'm going to try the top down and back up thing... sounds like a great idea for getting out the hot air.

I sent an email to covercraft asking if they could make a cover like this for the S2000. This is a cab cover for trucks but the same thing could be done for our car. This would keep out the sun and protect the top at the same time. Since it's only covering the top, it would be small and wouldn't take up much storage space. It could also be put on and removed relatively quickly. I may try and make one myself if they won't do it. I have an old car cover lying around I could use as a tester.
That looks nice.

Yeah I like the idea. Would be very effective at keeping the interior cool and also protect the top from the dreaded bird poo.

It's been so hot last couple days in SF bayarea, couple cities here reached 110+ F, I tried not go out too much over the weekend, luckily I have garage parking at work as long as I show up on time. Park S2K outside is a crime!

This may sound crazy, but I found this very useful based on personal experience ...

Get a cheap windshield screen, and place it OUTSIDE of the windshield -- so that you are blocking the radiation completely, and not letting the heat trap between your windshield and screen inside the cabin. Use your wipers (and maybe even the edge of the soft top on the S2000?) to hold the screen down.

You should only do this if you park your car in a relatively safe place. Otherwise your screen would keep getting jacked. No matter what though, you would lose a screen once in a while because of theft. So, get a cheap one!

If you REALLY want to save, you could always get a roll of tin foil and fabricate a bunch yourself (just make sure you wrap the edges properly so they don't scratch your windshield or paint ...) ...

Try this and see how it goes.

Here's what I use:

I don't use the side ones very often because they are a pain in the rear. If I'm going to park the car for a long period of time, I may use them, but I haven't used them in about a year and a half. The front one though, I use almost every day.
