I was driving home tonight (in my 2001 Silver S2k) from San Rafael, East on 580 in the Bay Area. I was humming along in 6th gear going about 65 or so. When along came a yellow Integra Type-R speeding up from behind to rest on my left side. We were cruising along at normal highway speeds and he began reving his engine. I don't know if he was coasting in neutral or what. I could tell his Type-R was modded, my last car was an Integra G-SR, so I knew what it sounded like with an added exaust. I don't know if he had any other mods. But what I did know was that he wanted to race.

I debated it for about 20 seconds, wondering if my S2k could take him or not. I knew I probably had more horsepower, I didn't know the extent of his mods though. After those 20 seconds, I decided i'd take him.

I threw the car in third (about 6000 rpm) and flored it. I pulled ahead instantly, don't know if I took him by suprise or not. I got up to 8.5k rpm, threw it into 4th. Kept flooring it, he was about 3 car lengths behind. I was approaching a car in front of me, and without letting off the gas slid in front of the Integra (ahead about 5 car lengths now), passed the car that was in font of me front of me, and kept going. It seemed like the car I passed was sitting still. I quickly glanced down and I was doing 125mph. I kinda freaked and let off the gas. I couldn't believe I was going so fast already, the speed was effortless compared to my GS-R.

The race was over...I had that warm fuzzy feeling inside me. The Integra cought up and pulled next to me on my right. I honked twice and waved, then pulled in behind him to exit. I was home.

Pretty Exciting

didn't think it would be that much of a difference.. sweet.. good to know we've got that much power to work with. i think the stook is probably strongest as a highway racer. probably in the 1/4 and 0-60.. the type-r would be closer.. but i don't know the stats on it.. just guessing.

Mandrew,

Good job.

I find that it's always best to get the jump on the other guy...and make him work harder.

Heh heh..

don't think it would be totally even, stock stook vs. stock stook unless they have the same milage since the engines start performing better and better the more broken in they get.

A stock TypeR has 195hp vs. 240hp for a stock S2000. Mind you the teg can be moded to kick our ass easily.

Are you sure it was a Type-R? It can be difficult to tell if you are not intimately familiar especially at night and only from the side/front.

Nice kill BTW

Good Kill Mandrew, but mor elike a good fun clean race. I like the dudes who pull up and wave knowing it was all in fun.

Gotta hook up with all the NorCal s2k's when they finally arrange something for Spring. of course we are lucky that we can drive ours all year round with the "terrible" weather we have =)
