Default end of a product's life cycle

i sold my last alloy dead pedal earlier this week, and i couldn't help but feel a sense of loss (and some pride). this pedal is what got Import Development started, but it's also a source of much bad karmas for me personally, and it was a source of much heated debate between myself and some members regarding the value and pricing of a product. however, the demand for my DP dropped because i was stubborn and didn't want to change my design - it's a personal pet peeve. in any case, if you are one of the lucky 120 people who owns either a counterbored or a drilled through version, consider yourself the owner of a limited edition pedal that will probably never be made again. Honda has made the alloy DP standard on '02s, so the demand for it will not be there.

everytime i see your signature with my DP on it, i mouth a silent thank you, i owe all of you a debt of much gratitude i hope owner designed products (like Rick and Muz) will continue to fuel new development for our cars. perhaps one day we will have that gun holster we always dreamed we would have maybe it'll be a Muz designed gun holster with Rick's leather?

thank you for your support

Mingster:

I don't have one of your DP's. . .but I don't have one from anyone else either. . .

Sounds sad. . .it's great to see you used the DP to excel your business!

Trevor from HandA accessories may be able to order that factory DP of the '02 for the rest of us!

i never got one either, , but i'm thinking that maybe the cold air intake would be a better buy? I'll email you on that later. Thanks for your wonderful products for the S2000 so far. We hope you'll keep 'em coming!

Rich (aka Mingster). Your Dead Pedal was my first mod and still one of my best. With the top down your product adds a LOT to the "visual pedal quotient". I remember a lot of PM's back and forth betweeen you and I in regards to your starting your own company. A major decision, especially as you pursued your college degree. While I recommended "Big Dick Racing" you settled on "Import Developement".....probably for the bettter. (but my windshield banner would have gotten more head turns).
I also was with you on the launch of your X-Brace, the best cost effective solution to the question of chassis stiffening. I anxiously await my CAI and have come to know you as one of the primary innovators on the S2K. I hope you continue to focus your post school energy on the car you, I, and others have come to love! I look forward to the day I sell my car and have a Mingster original DP; the one Honda copied.

P.S. Remember...the best form of flattery is imitation. So rather then focus on the past.....kick some ass in the future! You know I'll be there with ya bud!

Perhaps a BDR campaign ?

Mingster,

There is still a ton of stuff left to be developed for the S2000. Use your imagination and inginuity.

Reasonably priced CF hoods and trunks come to mind immediately. . .

Its sad that you're putting it to bed. I'd like to have one for my car, but after reading this, I don't want a honda one! (have any stashed away?)

Rich, your counterbored dead pedal was my first S2000 "mod," and arrived fully two months before the car.

I was shocked when I installed it. The sun came out. Beautiful girls surrounded my dull silver/black. My zero to sixty times were cut in half.

Seriously, I love owning a piece of metal that you personally deburred before shipping.

Thank you very much.
