Default Engine bogged out @ 7300 rpm...

right when I left work today I shifted from 1st then to 2nd and @ 7300 rpm the power just cut off when I first started the car (was in a hurry to get home). Then at the next stop light I tried it again and there was no power cutoff @ 7300 rpm... Was it because the engine was still cold after sitting at my job for a few hours???

Sounds like your engine was cold.

Are you sure it was 7300rpm? Or a little earlier? Not sure about the '06, but for the rest of us a rev limiter kicks in to keep the car out of VTEC if the car is not yet warm.

VTEC only kicks in at 5750 rpms if your above a certain throttle percentage.

I glanced at the rev limiter...I am pretty sure it was around 7300...right before redline anyway like I said it did not do it again, guess because the engine was cold !!!

I don't really know about he AP2s, but my AP1 won't go into VTEC unless there are three bars on my engine temp guage. But the thing I don't understand here is that my car won't go over 6K rpm with a "cold engine." I understand that this is normal, as 6K rpm is the point where my AP1 hits VTEC. The thing I don't understand, if "cold engine" is limiting the OP's revs, is how the OP got all the way up to 7.3K rpm before this feature took effect.

Thanks
Richard
