Just curious though, didn't you ever read the threads that the stock Honda OEM Filter being the best filter to use for our car? Might've saved you this headache. Good luck with all the repairs and change back to the OEM filter IMHO.
I have read those thread, I've just always used purolator or fram with all my previous vehicles. I guess I will start using the OEM filter.

This happens a lot when oil change places don't use / replace the crush washer and the filter backs out. I know you can keep reusing the washer and not have a problem... but sometimes this happens.

This also has happened when they don't notice the washer is still on and they double them up....
The filter was not installed wrong, it didn't back out and there wasn't two washers on. The filter itself came apart.

Only use Honda oil filters installed per Helm's manual using a cap filter wrench to get it torqued on properly (7/8 turn after it touches if you don't use a torque wrench)

Honda uses a pretty serious torque to avoid loosening. Someone said it was metal on metal and I can believe it. I needed a special wrench to remove it.

There is no crush washer on the filter...

Class action suit for what? Is there a mass defect????? Lol.
